About
Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited is Pakistan's agricultural development bank, tracing back to 1961 and reconstituted in its present corporate form in 2002. Owned by the Government of Pakistan and headquartered in Islamabad, it exists to lend to farmers — for seed, fertiliser, tractors, tube wells and livestock — against security that a commercial bank would not normally accept. It is the largest agricultural lender in the country and operates through a network reaching rural districts that conventional banks have never found profitable.
In context
We hold 128 other bank companies. 41 of them have closed, after a median of 34 years, and 87 have no closure recorded.
Counted across this directory, from founding and closing years in public records. Medians cover only companies whose closure is recorded; a company with no closure date may have quietly ceased without the record catching it.
