About

Standard Chartered Bank (Pakistan) is the local subsidiary of the British bank, and the largest foreign bank operating in Pakistan. Standard Chartered has been present in the region since the nineteenth century through its predecessor institutions; the Pakistani subsidiary in its present form dates from 2006, when it merged its existing branches with the acquired Union Bank. It is the only foreign bank listed on the Pakistan Stock Exchange, and concentrates on corporate, institutional and affluent retail banking rather than mass-market branch coverage.

In context

We hold 10 other bank companies founded in the 2000s. 1 of them have closed, after a median of 6 years, and 9 have no closure recorded.

Counted across this directory, from founding and closing years in public records. Medians cover only companies whose closure is recorded; a company with no closure date may have quietly ceased without the record catching it.
