Silkbank Limited

About

Silkbank traced its origins to 1994 and spent much of its existence under successive restructurings, operating earlier as Saudi Pak Commercial Bank before a 2008 recapitalisation by an international investor consortium and rebranding. It never returned to sustained profitability, and in March 2025 the State Bank of Pakistan sanctioned its amalgamation into United Bank Limited, under which Silkbank ceased to exist as a separate institution and its shareholders received one UBL share for every twenty-five they held.
