About
House Building Finance Company is Pakistan's specialised housing finance institution, established in 1952 and restructured as a public limited company in 2007. Owned jointly by the Government of Pakistan and the State Bank of Pakistan, it lends for the construction, purchase and renovation of homes — a market conventional Pakistani banks have largely avoided, because long-dated mortgage lending sits badly with a deposit base that is overwhelmingly short-term.
In context
We hold 128 other bank companies. 41 of them have closed, after a median of 34 years, and 87 have no closure recorded.
Counted across this directory, from founding and closing years in public records. Medians cover only companies whose closure is recorded; a company with no closure date may have quietly ceased without the record catching it.
