About

Easypaisa began in 2009 as a branchless banking service launched by Telenor Pakistan with Tameer Microfinance Bank — the first mobile money service in the country, and for years the largest. It made it possible to send money, pay bills and hold a balance through an agent network rather than a branch, reaching tens of millions of people who had no bank account. Now operating as Easypaisa Bank following Telenor Microfinance Bank's rebranding, it is one of the two services that define Pakistani mobile payments.

In context

We hold 10 other bank companies founded in the 2000s. 1 of them have closed, after a median of 6 years, and 9 have no closure recorded.

Counted across this directory, from founding and closing years in public records. Medians cover only companies whose closure is recorded; a company with no closure date may have quietly ceased without the record catching it.
