About
Askari Bank was established in 1991 by the Army Welfare Trust, which built it to serve military personnel and their families before it grew into a full commercial bank. Headquartered in Rawalpindi, it was among the first Pakistani banks to offer internet banking and remains majority-owned by the Fauji Foundation group following a 2013 change of control. It is listed on the Pakistan Stock Exchange.
In context
We hold 19 other bank companies founded in the 1990s. 4 of them have closed, after a median of 13 years, and 15 have no closure recorded.
Counted across this directory, from founding and closing years in public records. Medians cover only companies whose closure is recorded; a company with no closure date may have quietly ceased without the record catching it.
