Allied Bank Limited was founded in Lahore in 1942 as Australasia Bank, the first bank established with entirely Muslim capital in what became Pakistan. Nationalised in 1974, it was privatised in 1991 through an employee buyout — a structure with no parallel in Pakistani banking — before control passed to the Ibrahim Group in 2004. It is headquartered in Lahore and listed on the Pakistan Stock Exchange.
